FEATURE
A passport. A world full of creative places to explore.

It's a passport to a more perfect place
to a stress-free and stable state,
to a land of endless creative possibilities.
The ColorChecker Passport Photo 2 is an indispensable tool that allows you to capture the colors of the world perfectly, ensuring that you can work with the most accurate image possible from the first shot through to editing.

The art of color management is all about making sure your colors are true to life from capture to output. This means your camera will capture the real colors, your monitor will display them accurately, and your printer will produce a photo that is exactly what you see on the screen.

The ColorChecker Passport Photo 2 is an essential component for your color-managed workflow. It contains 4 targets that give you everything you need for exposure control, white balance, camera profiling, and creative adjustments wherever your creativity takes you.

Gray balance target
18% medium gray is the industry standard used to produce consistent image exposure and / or color in film and photography. Use this with a reflective light meter or your in-camera meter to check the lighting conditions and the light distribution. It can also be used for neutral balancing and removing color casts.

· Set the correct exposure of the camera
· Check the lighting conditions; important for portrait photography
· Alternative choice for the individual neutral adjustment of your camera

White balance target
When you start with accurate white balance, make sure that the colors you capture are realistic and that they provide a reference point for post-shot editing. This target was created as a demanding standard to be spectrally neutral and to reflect the light evenly over the visible spectrum. This provides a neutral reference point to accurately compensate for different lighting conditions.

· Eliminate color casts
· Improve the color preview on the camera display
· Speed up post-production - you don't have to match images individually

Note: RAW photographers can use this target at any time during the shoot.
JPEG shooters should at least include the target in their first shot.

Sidebar:
"Why can't I just use a white object?"
White balance with a sheet of paper, or some other gray element in the shooting scene, may seem like a simple workaround, but most objects are not neutral in all lighting conditions and are certainly not consistent.
An inaccurate white balance leads to color casts and poor consistency in changing lighting conditions. This can slow down post-processing when trying to correct the resulting color casts.

CLASSIC target
Taking pictures with the industry standard of the ColorChecker Classic is an important step on the way to consistent, predictable colors already during the photographic recording. When combined with the camera calibration software, you can create custom DNG and / or ICC profiles of your camera's response to scene lighting for consistent, predictable and repeatable results from picture to picture and camera to camera.

The classic target also provides a visual color reference point so you can see exactly how color adjustments will affect the rest of the colors before you apply them. Each of the 24 color fields represents the colors of natural objects such as sky blue, various skin tones and leaf green; and each surface reflects light like its counterpart in the real world. Each square is individually colored with a solid hue to create a pure, flat, rich color with no colorless dots or mixed tints.

The ColorChecker Classic Target is also supported by software solutions from the following third-party providers:
· Hasselblad Phocus
Black Magic DaVinci Resolve
· 3D LUT Creator

CREATIVE IMPROVEMENT STARGET
With the Creative Enhancement Target, you can give your workflow more creativity and control over coloring. It contains four rows of image manipulation swatches that can be instantly applied with an eyedropper with just one click.

Two rows of warm and cool areas of color in the center of the passport serve as creative guides for creating engaging and repeatable edits. Creatively refine the color of your image by adding warmth to skin tones or enhancing cooler greens or blues in a landscape. Simply click the appropriate colors and sync your selection with other images captured with the same exposure to create beautiful edits - it's that easy!

A series of cropping fields at the bottom serve as a visual reference for assessment, control and image processing in the shadow details, or for highlighting cropping. The clipping patches are divided into two groups: light and dark. Each patch has a deviation of 1/3 f-stop, with the exception of the last black patch. The exposure difference between the darkest and nearest darkest fields is approximately 1/10 of a stop, and the dynamic range of the target is approximately 32: 1 (5 stops).

The top HSL line (hue, saturation, lightness) contains 8 spectrum patches to ensure color fidelity in all hues so that you can assess and edit color shifts.

SOFTWARE FOR CALIBRATING THE CAMERA
Now even more powerful: Create user-defined DNG and / or ICC camera profiles!
Create custom camera profiles with the standard 24-color patch ColorChecker Classic Target or the ColorChecker Digital SG Target together with the standalone ColorChecker Camera calibration software, or the Adobe Lightroom® plug-in.

This advanced camera profiling technology provides excellent results with any reference target and creates profiles that work wonderfully in almost any lighting condition. Auto-detection locates the target, making the profiling process a breeze. Regardless of whether you take photos with just one camera or several cameras; Color perfectionists can easily create an accurate color base and thus retain complete control over their colors.

• Minimize color differences between cameras and lenses
• Adjust for mixed exposure
• Adjust the color balance between different scenes

Dual illuminant DNG profile
A dual illuminant profile combines images captured under two different light sources to create a profile that can be applied to an even wider variety of lighting conditions. The dual illuminant profile can be made with either of the twenty-one supported lights, so you can move freely between most lighting conditions without having to change the profile.

PASSPORT case
The ColorChecker Passport Photo 2 was developed for absolute convenience and portability, so you can take it with you to every shoot. The travel-size case is made of sturdy plastic that protects the target from the weather and thus extends its service life.

The stand-alone passport case adapts to multiple positions so that you can flexibly position it where you need it. In addition, the supplied lanyard ensures that your passport is always close at hand for every photo shoot.
